STEVE MILLER BAND TO RELEASE 2 ALBUMS THIS YEAR AFTER 17 YRS

Steve MillerFew people would say that the climate right now in the music industry is ideal for album sales, but Steve Miller may just be one of those few. In an interview with Billboard, Miller reveals that the Steve Miller Band has definite plans to release not one but two new studio albums, after being out of that game for 17 years.

"This material we're just releasing now we've been working on stage for the last couple of years," Miller tells Billboard. "And it's just worked out that now seemed like a good time to release a record."

The first of the two discs will be called 'Bingo!' and will drop on June 15 via Miller's own Space Cowboy label. Although 17 years is enough time to write an entire catalog of new originals, Miller chose to go with blues classics instead, in making what he describes as a "party record." Tracks include selections from B.B. KingJimmy Reed and Jimmie Vaughan. A second, companion album is slated for next spring.

For fans of Steve Miller Band, it may have seemed like a long time to wait for a new studio release, but suddenly they can look forward to two of them. And all in the same amount of time -- almost -- that it took Guns N' Roses to release 'Chinese Democracy.'
